چکیده

Background The exact mechanisms behind the immune disturbances in primary Sjögren ́s syndrome (pSS) are still not known in details, but evidence suggests that abnormal Tand B-cell activation plays a critical role in the disease development. Recent studies emphasized the important role of follicular helper T (TFH) cells, which contribute to B-cell proliferation and differentiation, as well as antibody production. The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of TFH cells in the pathogenesis of pSS, by analyzing a wide spectrum of immune-competent cells and serological markers with a special emphasis on clinical symptoms of the disease.

T Helper Cells Profile and CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Regulatory T Cells in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is considered as the most common cause of female infertility that affects 4-10% of women in the reproductive age. Previous studies have shown the role of a balanced immune response in a successful pregnancy and fertility. Objective: To investigate the T helper cells type 1 (Th1) /Th2/Th17/Treg paradigms in peripheral blood of infertile PCOS compared ...

A comprehensive investigation on the distribution of circulating follicular T helper cells and B cell subsets in primary Sjögren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Follicular T helper (Tfh) cells have a crucial role in regulating immune responses within secondary lymphoid follicles by directing B cell differentiation towards memory B cells and plasma cells. Because abnormal humoral responses are key features in both primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the aim of this study was to profile the pathological connection bet...

T Helper 17 Cells in Primary Sjögren’s Syndrome

Primary Sjögren's syndrome is an autoimmune disease characterized by diffuse infiltration of lymphocytes into exocrine glands and other tissues. The infiltrating lymphocytes have been identified as subsets of B cells and T cells, including T helper 17 cells, T regulatory cells and follicular helper T cells. The role of these cells in the development of the syndrome is now known, as is their imp...

Lymphocyte phenotype and function in pseudolymphoma associated with Sjögren's syndrome.

Lymph node (LNL) and salivary gland lymphocytes (SGL) from three patients with pseudolymphoma and primary Sjögren's syndrome (1(0)SS) were characterized with monoclonal antibodies to demonstrate (a) a predominance of T cells (greater than 80%) reactive with anti-T cell antibodies OKT4 (greater than 70%) and OKT8 (less than 20%); (b) a high prevalence of activation antigens (greater than 50% of ...

Influence of 1 Alpha, 25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 on T Helper 17 Cells and Related Cytokines in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune disease. Emerging data suggests that T helper 17 (Th17) cells play a pathogenic role in SLE and the increased number of these cells correlates with disease activity. In recent years, 1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25VitD3) has been considered as an immunomodulatory factor. Objective: To investigate the effect of 1,25VitD3...
